Stellar Moves: A community project, pairing electronic music with Yoga to curate an unique experience.
Through merging different passions, Eva and Ruby aim to support the dance and music scene in a different way. Located in Naarm and coastal Victoria, Stellar Moves brings nightlife energy to the mat. Found in unconventional spaces, art galleries and local club venues, together with immersive lighting and sound.
Stellar Moves offers a unique experience. Creating the same feeling as a dancefloor by moving bodies in sync. This distinctive passion project encourages the balance between health and the music scene, reminding us of the importance and beauty of having a healthy body that can move. “Electronic music doesn't have to be exclusive to nightlife spaces or drug fuelled scenes”, Eva states. Stellar Moves is pushing boundaries and breaking the stereotype of your typical fitness class. With an emphasis on honouring the body, this women-led project is built upon creating a safe space. Eliminating the intimidation from many Yoga and Pilates studios where an aesthetic is upheld, or at least felt, Stellar Moves prides itself on the content, not the way it looks. Eva says, “just like your favourite dancefloor - it’s not white, bright and one-sized”.
With a wealth of experience in Yoga and Pilates instructing between them, Eva (DJ / Producer) and Ruby (Fashion Designer) are lovers of art, music festivals and all types of movement and expression. Eva explains how her knowledge of music has influenced her teaching; “music compliments movement, when you feel in flow whether it’s on a dancefloor or a Yoga mat it’s a grounding and empowering experience”.
In collaboration with local artists, sessions at Stellar Moves offer DJ’s the opportunity to play experimental and ambient live sets. Spanning progressive, dub, minimal and groove, participants ebb and flow with the bpm before winding down for a meditative Savasana.
